Speaking Mobile

After launching my startup BeamApp, I’ve been rather quiet over the last months. I paused on blogging, noticeably backed off from twitter and talked less at conferences. In 2012, this is going to change and I am happy to announce three amazing speaker engagements for this year.

MobileTech Conference (Munich, March 27-29)

MobileTech ConferenceThe MTC is one of the few conferences in Germany that aims at developers of all major mobile platforms, cross-platform toolkits, and the mobile web. On the last of its three days of packed sessions, I am elaborating what native iOS developers can take away from the web and I will present some of the learnings we had with the development of BeamApp so far. This includes elegant ways to authenticate against web services from a native app, passing information between web and apps, leverage web-only Javascript libraries in your native application (without PhoneGap), debugging and the like.

Mobilism (Amsterdam, May 10-11)

MobilismDue to a tight project deadline, I had to throw away my tickets for Mobilisim last year. I cannot tell you how disapointed I was, especially since I heard exceptional positive feedback afterwards. For this reason, I am even more excited that I’ve been invited to give a talk this year! The conference targets at web developers involved with mobile and features some awesome experts in this field. I am going to complement this line up with a talk that shows how you can leverage web technology to produce mobile apps that go beyond the classy web app or a hybrid solution. Salted with live coding and demos I might offer an additional perspective of “native” to the attending web wizards.

iPhone Developer Conference (Stuttgart, October 22-23)

iPhone Developer ConferenceThe IPDC grew to a solid corner stone for iOS developers who are looking for in-depth knowledge about Apple’s mobile platform. I will attend the fourth year in a row and will happily support the organizer as part of the advisory board for the second year. In addition to this, I’ve been asked to give a keynote not only for the iPhone Developer Conference but also for the more general Mobile Developer Conference that happens to take place at the same time at the same venue. Wow, that will be huge! Even though I have not settled on a specific topic yet, you can expect something that… well… you’ll see ;)

If you want to meet me at one of these conferences (or at least pretend to), let me know and I can arrange a discount for you (in case of MTC you have to shake a leg).

Support my Work

Writing an article like the one you have just read takes me quite an amount of my personal time. Way too often, I invest this time in different interests and decide against another blog post. On the other hand, you can motivate me with your feedback, your thoughts and your ideas. Please leave a comment below or flattr this post if you think it's worth it.
